Our Story
Founded in Long Beach, CA, Alvarez Architects Inc strives to impact people through their experiences with the built environment. No matter what project we’re designing, we always aim to make a difference in the city’s fabric. We envision spaces that will inspire people, help them connect with one another, and enrich the human experience. We do these things by embracing our communities' life, love, and diversity. Recognizing that every great design is the result of collaboration, we invite all our clients into our design process. Through our journey, we strive to find the perfect balance between comfort, practicality, and beauty.
Our Principal
Josh discovered his passion for architecture when he was 12. Spending his summers helping his father in the construction field, he gained a foundation that not only guided his studies but gave him a deeper understanding of how buildings are put together. While attending Woodbury University in Burbank, CA, he obtained his General Contractor License and worked as a Project Manager for Alvarez Tile, working closely with Contractors and Architects.
After obtaining his professional degree in architecture, he worked for a few corporate and boutique firms in Los Angeles, CA, and Long Beach, CA. He designed Single and Multi-Family Homes as well as Mix-Use buildings. These experiences helped him bridge the common disconnect between design and construction, making him a well-rounded architect and design-driven contractor.

With over a decade of experience in the Design and Construction industry, Josh obtained his architect's license in California and Founded Alvarez Architects. His Design Philosophy is centered on creating aesthetically pleasing and practical spaces, considering the unique needs of his clients and the site context. Throughout his career, he has been committed to staying up to date with the latest trends and technologies, constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible in architecture.
